Happy Thanksgiving – Gratitude Practice

Howdy.

I haven’t been very on top of this blog, but I will be soon. I’m just getting caught up on life after a major unrelated project.

When we think of Thanksgiving, we may think of the dark elements of US history and also some of the positive aspects. More often than not, gratitude is a major theme.

Gratitude helps our meditations. It helps us to calm our minds and, therefore, to increase compassion. While chowing on mashed potatoes, turkey, pumpkin pie and green beans smothered with crunchy bread products, give thanks for everything you have.

Give thanks for each blessing one by one or as a whole.

This is a spiritual practice that ideally should be a normal activity year round. We can turn this into a focused daily prayer every day and experience some amazing results, including a calmer mind and easier meditation.

I’ll do my best to anchor this process today and to try to make gratitude a regular practice.

  1. Thanks for sharing this article. For those of us that grew up when Grattitude Prayers were part of our daily lives, we have experienced just what you’re talking about. I’ll try to make of this a common practice from now on.
