Write for The Ultimate Stress Blog

Tuesday, August 10, 2010

Guest bloggers wanted:

If you have life changing stress management advice to offer readers of The Ultimate Stress Blog, please consider writing.

The blog is a multidisciplinary stress advice blog featuring guest writers in the helping professions. This includes yogis, wellness researchers, doctors, psychologists, nutritionists or anyone with valuable tips and "how to's" to offer to those who wish to let go of stress. Useful information, such as studies relevant to the topic, is also welcome.

You get a caption at the end of your article describing who you are, what services you are offering (if any) plus a dofollow link to your website at the end of the article from a Google pagerank 3 domain: DeeperMeditation.Net.

Guidelines:

  • The blog only accepts writings from verifiably real people. Submissions from anonymous or semi-anonymous freelance writers working for backlink companies will not be accepted. A quality blog depends on reader trust, and readers must be able to make an educated guess whether to trust the information presented here. Notice the difference between the following two bylines

Bad: "Sally Jenkins has been known to spend her time blogging, writing and shopping for martial arts clothing." (Does this person even exist? This uncertainty plus the spammy hyperlink reveals the true intent behind the article. No good for reader trust.)

Better: Mary Lou Smith has suffered from clinical depression three times. She now helps clients beat the blues in the Miami area. Her website is www.BeattheBlues.com." (Further contact info on Mary's website verifies her as a real human being.)

  • It is strongly suggested to pitch the article idea first to monkeyjediflame (at) gmail (dot) com. Unsolicited submissions are also ok in some cases. Regardless, please use the words "stress blog" in the subject line.
  • Original content only. This means that the article is not available elsewhere on the net, at least not in the eyes of search engine robots who tend to punish "duplicate content". This allows everyone to benefit from search engine favorability of the site.
  • There are no length requirements. A thousand words or more is great. However, it can be less. If it's just a few hundred words, be sure to pack some extra "meat" into the article so that readers find valuable and helpful information.
  • No need to indent at the beginning of the paragraph. Just follow the format on this page.
  • Please add just one space before beginning a new sentence.
  • Content may be proofread for grammar. The title might also be altered so that people can find it. Anything more and I'll run it by you first.
  • Keyword research and seo is a plus, but not necessary.
  • Edit the article as much as you can. It will only go through one more pair of eyes before publishing.
  • Attach any photos you want to include. Photos can be any size and any format. Include a bio with whatever info you want people to know about you and your website. A caption can be one sentence or up to a couple paragraphs. For your sake, don't overdo that part.
  • Even embedded videos can be good in some cases.

You can send the article to monkeyjediflame (at) gmail (dot) com Make the subject line easier to spot with the words "stress blog" included.

Tips for better search traffic for your article

  • Type a relevant word or phrase into the "word or phrase" field and click "advanced options"
  • First, check the box for "ideas containing my search terms". You can try the other check box later.
  • Scroll down and under "Match Types", make sure both "broad" and "exact" are checked.
  • Search terms surrounded by "[ ]" are exact phrases. These are the ones you are looking at. It will tell you the number of times people type in that exact phrase each month.
  • Look for exact terms that get significant traffic, but very little competition.
  • Search for your desired term in a Google search. If you have the Google toolbar or the Firebox browser, you can check the pagerank of the top 15 or so results. Don't just check the rank of the pages that appear in search results. Check the rank of the root level domain of the page. If it's a subdomain such as "subdomain.domain.com", check the rank of the root level subdomain. This will give you an idea of how much "clout" your competition has. Check at least the first 15 results.
  • You also may want to check how well they're targeting the key search term in the title, the metadescription, the url of either the domain or the page, the meta keywords and the body of text. If some of the top 15 results are not targeting your search term well, you may have a shot even if the pagerank is high.
  • The meta keywords and meta description can be found in the source code of the page. Click on "view" in your browser and view the source. It will appear between the <head> and </head> tags near the top of the page. They begin with meta content="keywords" and meta content="description".
  • Include your search term in the title, the first 50 words of the article and the last 50 words of the article. Splatter it throughout the body of the article without being sloppy. You want to write for humans rather than search engines. Also use some synonymns and variations of the words. Don't make it too dense. A 1,000 word article should include at least 10 instances of your search term, but no more than 30. That's a 1%-3% keyword density.
